Arthur Pin is a 23 years old Londoner. He has been living in London for one year when I met him at a bar of ULU, the University of London Union. He is studying languages in France, more precisely English and Spanish; it is why he is spending two year in London.
We talk a lot about the British education system, which is really different of what we know in France. For example, a lot of French students choose to study in a "Grande Ecole", whereas English students go to university. It is why universities are so huge in Great Britain. It is true in London but all around Great Britain where he visited two or three other universities. The fact that students have not the choice in term of structure explains to his mind that universities are so good. All the concentration of government goes into them.
When I asked him what he thought about transport, he told me that he didn’t care problems of transport, because he is leaving near to the main buildings of the university, in the center of London. But when he needs to go further and have to pay one expensive ticket, he understands what a lot of Londoners knows every day…
In fact, he uses public transport when he wants to visit something or enjoy himself with friends. It was the occasion to talk about entertainment. He told me that as a capital city, London provides to Londoners and tourists a lot of way to entertain themselves. You can visit cultural places like museums for examples where you can enter for free. Or you can also find a lot of pubs, nightclubs and so on, with the music that others Europeans will discover months and months after.
To sum up, even if Arthur loves his country, he is proud to be a Londoner!
